Fall Fun!

Wow October flew by and November is going quickly. Fall has fun and very busy! Here are a few things that have keep us busy this fall...

Carving Pumpkins! The week before Halloween our friends Lisa and Matt invited us over to carve pumpkins. They all turned out really good. We never buy the premade patterns, but I think Matt is hooked. Matt carved ours so I can't take any credit for it, but he did a great job. His is the scarecrow! We were hoping they would last until Halloween, but we had to throw it away the next day. I guess the $3 Walmart pumpkins aren't made to last :)

Of course with Halloween we had to throw our annual Halloween Party. It always turns out different every year, but we love doing it. This year Dahlia Wright and I planned the party at our house at Village Green. We turned our backroom into a completely decked out party room. The bundle of hay turned out to be a complete disaster (I am still vacuuming it up around my house) but it made for a great decoration. We had a great turn out. I swear there were 70 people in our house at one point. We did a soup buffet with lots of Halloween treats. Matt made his famous (well almost famous) root beer. Everyone got their pictures taken with the backdrop that Dahlia made. We also had a piƱata for the kids and doughnut eating contest for the adults. A small group of friends hung around for some games after the crowd cleared out. The costumes were great. Matt and I decided to dress up as Greek people, mostly because it was cheap and easy! It was lots of work but well worth it!

Dahlia made the backdrop for pictures.

The Girls.

In October we went to the CWDA (Creighton Women Dental Alliance) annual Halloween activity at a local pumpkin patch. We went on a hayride through the pumpkin patch, ate lunch, and hung out with friends. Luckily the weather cooperated and we had a great time.

When all the guys were at the priesthood session of conference, we decided to have a girl’s night out. We went to dinner at a "50’s" style diner in Omaha called Petrow’s. It was a fun place with the best homemade chocolate pie I have ever tasted! We live in such an amazing neighborhood with the best group of people. We are so blessed to have such great people so close. It is the best home away from home we could ask for. These girls are all so amazing!

Dahlia and I showed up with almost the same coat, so we had to get a picture!

Chiefs Game

A few weeks ago we went to Kansas City to the Chiefs football game. It was a little chilly but we had a great time. We drove down with our friends Niel and Madalyn Hjorth. The Chiefts played the 49ers and won by long shot. The stadium was huge and the fans were crazy. Matt has always been a huge Chiefs fan so it was fun to go and watch them play.

What a fun weekend it has been. We went down to Kansas City on Friday for the race. Matt ran the 5K and I ran the half marathon. It is such a fun city and a beauitful course (I ran the full marathon last year and I have to admit that scenery is much better on the full marathon, but the half was still great.) Matt finished the 5K in 22 minutes and I did the half marathon in 2 hours and 9 minutes. He did not wait in his race clothes at the finish line so I don't have any good pictures of him...

There were several of our neighbors that ran in the marathon and half marathon. I ran the entire time with Heather Yates. Her husband is in dental school with Matt. It was so great having her there. I helps to have someone pushing you.

The best part of Kansas City...the BBQ. After the race we went to Oklahoma Joe's for lunch. It is an amazing BBQ restaurant....well restaurant is a strong word. It is actually a restaurant in a gas station (they now have other locations, but this is the original and has the best food). However, it is really good. The line is always out the door. We waited over an hour in line to get our food. We were all so hungry that it didn't take long to polish off disgusting amounts of food in just a few minutes.

We spent the rest of the day walking around the city and swimming at the hotel.

A bunch of us decided to take a girls trip to Navoo. It is only 5 hours from Omaha, so we all plied in a car on Friday afternoon and drove straight there. We stayed at an amazing hotel next to the temple and spent Saturday walking around Navoo. We drove home late Saturday night. I was an amazing place and I can't wait to go back with Matt and spend more time.

This is on the stairs at the front of the temple.

Carriage ride through Navoo.

We were walking along and and two of the girls randomly took off into a field of geese. There were a ton of them and they total freaked out and started flying everywhere. It was hilarious!

The temple was amazing!!

This is at the family history center where we made a rope. I can't imagine living back in the day when you had to make your own of everything!

Offutt Air Force Base Airshow. Offutt is only a few minutes for our house, so we went with some friends.

Last week we went to the Nebraska Cornhuskers Game. Is was CRAZY but so much fun. I never knew college football could be so crazy. It took us over 2 hours to get to get to Lincoln...it's only 40 miles away. It was amazing to see 80,000 people in the stadium and another 40,000 outside. Someone told us that during game days Lincoln become the largest city in Nebraska...it was nuts.

Summer Vacation

Well we just got back from summer vacation and we had a blast. We visited Grand Cayman, Roatan (Honduras), Belize, and Cozumel. Take a look at the video we made of some of our pictures.
